COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP (CLeW)

The Community Leadership Workshop (CLeW) is a one-day program for high school freshmen to enhance their leadership abilities by:

  • interacting with like-minded peers from their area;
  • collaborate with others on a community service project;
  • engaging in interactive leadership and team-building activities; and
  • connecting with local leaders, volunteers, and entrepreneurs.

Each county – New Castle, Kent, and Sussex – holds their own workshop, and students are typically recommended by their school’s guidance counselor or principal, although any student can attend! CLeWs in Delaware typically run from 8:00AM – 4:00PM and include several leadership activities, panels, and a community service activity. These seminars are planned and led by local HOBY Alumni with the assistance of our CLeW Chair, Ananya Singh.

HOBY Delaware’s fundraising efforts allow us to offer the workshop at no cost of attendance! Students are asked to bring a bagged lunch, and sometimes a small donation for the service project; in addition t-shirts are available for a donation. Snacks and other materials are provided.
