COVID-19 RESPONSE
Please note that all policies and procedures are subject to change due to the fluidity of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. All participants will be notified of any changes.
All participants are required to abide by all COVID-19 related policies and procedures set by Salisbury University, outlined in the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information webpage.
All participants are required to abide by all COVID-19 related policies and procedures set by Salisbury University, outlined in the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information webpage.
All participants are asked to either:
- be fully-vaccinated* against COVID-19 by June 2, 2022 (two weeks before the start of the seminar), or
- receive a negative COVID test that is dated after June 13, 2022.
See below for definitions of vaccination status.
All participants are required to disclose their vaccination status when submitting their Pre-Seminar Materials. By submitting their vaccination status, participants will help HOBY Delaware in managing the response of potential infections. The vaccination status of all participants will be kept confidential and only shared with volunteers on a need-to-know basis.
Any participants who are not fully vaccinated are asked to receive a negative PCR test dated after June 13, 2022. Participants who are fully vaccinated are also encouraged to receive a negative test within the same time period.
Prior to arriving on campus on June 17, 2022, students will be emailed a pre-seminar Health Screening form to complete that ensures that no ambassadors enter the seminar with existing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
In the event that a participant develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19, that participant will be removed from the seminar and provided with a rapid COVID-19 test. Per Salisbury University policy, any participants who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 will be asked to leave the seminar, regardless of the test result. Parents/guardians will be notified immediately and are expected to pick their child up from the seminar as soon as possible.
During this time, the participant will be placed in an isolated space, either indoors or outdoors. All meals will still be provided until their parent/guardian arrives.
*HOBY Delaware will maintain an adequate supply of rapid COVID-19 tests to utilize during the seminar. Students are not expected to bring their own.
If a participant tests positive for COVID-19, their roommate will be asked to move to a new room so that Salisbury University can disinfect the space.
Given that COVID tests are unlikely to present positive results until at least three days after transmission, close contacts will not be tested for COVID-19. However, any close contact that is not fully vaccinated will be immediately sent home, and any fully vaccinated close contact will be allowed to remain at the seminar while monitoring symptoms.
Any participant who does not adequately comply with Salisbury University and HOBY Delaware COVID-related policies and procedures will be immediately dismissed from the seminar.
Any participant that is a close contact to someone who tested positive at the seminar will be asked to test for COVID-19 three days after the seminar and report any positive results to HOBY Delaware.
If any positive results are reported to HOBY Delaware after the seminar, HOBY Delaware will notify any close contacts of the participant and recommend they be tested as well. Additionally, all participants will be notified of a positive test result and will be encouraged to test themselves.
All staff, volunteers, ambassadors, and any external guests (including speakers and parents/guardians) that will physically be in-person during the seminar are considered “participants.”
